LASG Consumer Protection Agency Visits Bariga Council Chairman 'Alabi Kolade'

LAGOS STATE CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCY VISITS BARIGA

The Chairman of Bariga local council, Hon Kolade Alabi, has said the council is ready to work with the Lagos state consumer protection agency to ensure that consumers get quality value for products and services they pay for.

Alabi made the assertion during a visit to his Bawala council secretariat by the delegation of the LASCOPA, led by the General manager, Mr Afolabi Solebo.

Mr Solebo in his address said the primary reason of their visit was to bring LASCOPA closer to the people of Bariga as well as to kick off sensitization programs that will guide Barigans of their rights as consumers.

Alabi in his response thanked the team for their visit on behalf of the people of Bariga, as well as for identifying with the critical stakeholders, which is local government.

He said people need protection from all consumable items in all spheres of our lives, but  the problem is that laws guiding consumer rights are not properly  implemented. Alabi added that  government is approaching issues from top to bottom, instead of using the bottom- top approach.

The council chief promised to support LASCOPA by providing operating office for them in Bariga and also advice his colleagues in other councils to key in to the advocacy.

The Vice chairman, Hon. Mrs Adeola Zainot Kuponiyi , Council treasurer, Mr Samuel Apata and the council manager were also present at the event.
