Flooding, Bariga Council Chairman Alabi Kolade Inspects Drainage charges residents against indiscriminate dumping of waste

BARIGA LOCAL COUNCIL UPDATE


ALABI, LAGOS STATE MINISTRY OF THE ENVIRONMENT OFFICIALS, INSPECTS BARIGA DRAINAGE SYSTEM: ADVISE RESIDENTS AGAINST INDISCRIMINATE DUMPING OF WASTE.

The officials of Lagos State ministry of The Environment, Drainage Services Department were in Bariga Local Council today to inspect the drainages that have been the major cause of flood in the area.

The Chairman, Hon Alabi Kolade David today led the officials to the drainages at Ayedun and Alhaji Ariyo streets in Ilaje Area and also Boxton Cole collector, Gbagada road and Falade Junction.

Alabi said it is necessary that urgent steps are taken by the ministry to avoid flood in Bariga, especially as the rains continually drops.

One would recall that  Oworo- the other side of Bariga was sand-filled has been preventing the easy flow of water from Bariga to the lagoon.

Furthermore, the Council Boss advised the residents to desist from dumping waste into drainages and canals as the Environmental department of Bariga continue to work day and night to clear those wastes dumped in the drainages by residents.


The chairman was accompanied by Hon Sesan Olanrewaju and was joined by the residents of Ayedun and environs.
