Breaking News: NANS Osun Axis Suspends Protest As Police Release 2 Remaining Students

The National Association Of Nigerian Students (NANS) Osun Axis, has suspended its protest scheduled to hold today on the street of Osogbo to the State House of Assembly as the State Police Command Headquarters have released two remaining detained students of Osun State College of Education, Ilesha.
It would be recalled that this medium had yesterday night reported that six out of the 8 detained students were released on Wednesday evening few hours after the NANS called for a protest. While the former Students Union President of the college, Comrade Felix and a student leader, Com. Awowole Samuel were still in detention
However, in a phone interview with our correspondent, the NANS Osun Chairman, Com.Abidoye Omololu told our newsman that the two remaining students have just been released.
“We are still at the Police headquarters with our two remaining detained comrades. They have just been released. We are still there settle out things with the Police,” he said.
Findings revealed that the students were arrested on Monday for protesting on Tuesday, May 28th 2019 over the death of four students of the college.
A reliable source who prefers to remain anonymous within the college confirmed the arrest of these students and said that the management of the college connived with the Divisional Police Officer, Ayeso Police Station, Ilesa to arrest the students at the main gate of the college.
Part of those arrested are; the speaker of the Students’ Union Government, Comrade Valentino, Former SUG President of the college, Comrade Alalade Felix, a student leader, Com. Awowole Samuel (AWOSAM), Former NANS Chairman, Osun state axis and otherstudents leaders of the college.
According to a close source at the institution who craved anonymity said that, ” On May 28th, 2019, students came out in masses to protest undemocratic styles of running the college by Prof. Kola Kazeem led management and other demands of the protesting students are; Abolition of new fee increament . The students also frown at fee like ICT, Entrepreneurship, medical, NHIS and others because management didn’t provide expected services.
“Most of these innocent students arrested were in the college for different purpose apart from academics but they were molested and had been transferred to an unknown location.”
